Spearmint is one of the oldest medicines. Some researches show that it was used in Ancient Greece to treat infectious diseases like Scabies, Dermatitis, Athlete’ Foot, Syphilis and Gonorrhea.

Spearmint essential oil is extracted by steam distillation of flowering tops of the spearmint plant. It has less menthol than peppermint essential oil and that’s the reason why it’s an alternative of it.

Spearmint is helpful with relaxing spasms, soothe muscle strains, cramps and nervous convulsions. It relieves spasmodic coughs, pulling sensations and aches in the digestive system. It also helps with gases formed in stomach and intestines to pass out of the body.

It’s relaxing effect also removes stress on the cognitive center. This provides a better concentration and a relief to headache and other stress related neural problems.
